Quakertown Community Marching Band Gearing Up...

QUAKERTOWN, PA - The QCHS Marching Band is gearing up for its 2009 season by holding Freshman Orientation rehearsals during the final two weeks of school. The rehearsals are designed to introduce new members to the group and begin laying the foundation of basic technique in an effort to raise the level of performance to another level this coming season.

With many new faces both on the field and off, 2009 will be a season of change for the Quakertown Marching Panthers. New to the professional staff are Guard Caption Head Franko Robinson and Head Instructor Nellie Yun. With a modern dance background, Franko plans to focus the new "Outdoor Performance Ensemble" on energizing their performances and engaging the audience. As a ballet dancer, Nellie looks to implement an extensive movement program that will extend through the OPE into the band proper. Needless to say, we are extremely excited to have Franko and Nellie on board!

In addition to changes in staffing, the QCHS Marching Band will be leaving the Tournament of Bands and focusing entirely on the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA). While we have fond memories of TOB and experienced success as a member of the circuit, we felt as though the time was right for a change. We are certain that our high-energy performance style and level of excellence will be a welcome addition to the USSBA, and we are looking forward to competing against a whole new crop of bands from around the country!

For more information on the USSBA, visit the YEA.org website.
